Jay Pareil Discusses His Rise Through The Ranks Of Success

Philadelphia’s favourite young rapper on how music success has changed his life for the better.

Jay Pareil certainly wasn’t born to glitz and glamour. Instead of ‘bling’ he was more likely to be found out grifting, trying to make spare cash in a world too cruel for most. Underground Philadelphia is a different world. It’s dark, it’s seedy, and it’s often dangerous.

Only 26 years old now, Jay released his first single “Digital Math”, in December of 2019. While most young rappers would spend the entirety of their first year in the industry out on tour, Jay has had to contend with the Coronavirus pandemic hindering his chances at performances in clubs. As the world re-emerges, expect Jay Pareil and numerous other young rappers to be bursting back out onto the scene.

The Rise to Stardom

Jay’s not been squandering his time, though. He’s been writing new tunes, composing new beats, and collaborating with ever more artists. He has amassed a huge following online – with enough interest in his official videos that they have racked up thousands of views on YouTube. Together with an already exceptional library of songs, this young rapper is on the sure path to success.

It wasn’t always so, though. Growing up as Joseph A Irving III, Jay Pareil has a full family behind him, looking towards him for success. He has had to work full time, supporting himself while he went out at night to rap, compete, and chase his dreams.

Jay sticks to his guns on one matter specifically – that of hard work being the driving force that helped him achieve his goals. There is no fairy godmother waiting to wave a wand and sprinkle her fairy dust. If you want to make it in music, you must chase that dream by yourself.

Earning Music Fame

Earning music fame isn’t something we can achieve overnight. It takes years of working every night, never giving up, and moving forward a step at a time. It’s a hard path and, for the most part, the difference between those that succeed at it and those that don’t, lies in the stubborn refusal to take no for an answer.

Too many young rappers are put off by the attitudes inherent in the Philadelphia music industry. It’s the same problem found all over the US. People’s belief is that you need money, you need to have fast cars and private jets. They are getting it on its head. According to Jay Pareil, you go out and chase the music, work hard, and keep showing up, and the fast cars and faster cash come later, as a result.

Keeping up with Jay

You can keep up with Jay Pareil by heading over to Twitter and following him. You’ll find him on Apple Music and in the Spotify store. You can even browse some of his tunes for free over on YouTube.

But if you really want to support young rap artists like Jay, you must get out there and start buying tickets. God knows the industry needs your support.
