Raised in Brooklyn, New York, amidst the pop vibe, Shalisse went on to become a musician. But always knew that she had to add her own unique touch to it. Over the years, she experimented and explored various concepts to create her own niche. Shalisse’s interest in music manifested from her own family members who were popular rappers and artists themselves. With such encouragement and passion, there was no looking back for her.
Leash DA BEAAST is a mission to create quirky no age bar music. A kind that anyone can listen to. At the same time, she engages in creating innovative pieces of music that the youth of today can relate to. Leash DA BEAAST understands that the youth has a certain style. She explains, “You see, the youth of today sees the world through art. They want to express themselves through songs, movies etc.”
Shalisse’s creativity and ideas are behind hit and groovy songs such as, “STAALEM,” “Sanddune,” and her latest release, “Quarantine Purge.” and “Come Outside.”
Additionally, her song entitled “BBQ (Beautiful Black Queens)” has been showered with love from all over the world. This song is close to Leash DA BEAAST for a number of reasons. Her daughter was the inspiration behind it and this song was her way of uplifting the Black women facing racial issues.
Reflecting on her motivation behind building her brand, Leash DA BEAAST says, “My daughter is my inspiration. As a businesswoman and musician, I want to leave a legacy for her. I want to create a positive and empathetic work culture for people associated with me. My brand is a space to create, experiment, fail and rise again. Away from all judgements, it’s a space to grow and fulfill dreams. That’s literally what we do everyday!”
