In a recent interview, Florida Rapper Erica Mason claimed she is working on a unique new album to document her story in a way no one has seen before. “I’m currently working on a project that tells an in-depth story of my healing process. It’s a series of musical letters written to people in my past as well as various experiences that I’ve had.” She released her widely loved single, “Unappreciated” and the authenticity speaks for itself. This very real approach to music is what Erica is known for and stands on.
If these letters are reminiscent of her past music, we’re in for yet another astonishing album from a female rapper in the 2020s. Between Bia’s “For Certain”, “Planet Her” by Doja Cat, or the countless phenomenal projects from MCs like Megan the Stallion, Coi Leray, or Cardi B, Erica Mason is set to join a wave of MCs that is female-led. Erica brings an incredible amount of talent to the table, writing her own songs, drafting up her own album concepts, and branding her own music videos. Her incredible talent level and consistency are bringing her to the top, and since her debut EP in 2016, she’s shown no signs of slowing down. Mason told our team in the interview that she is set to drop in May 2022, and after a listen to her discography, our team can’t help but refresh her Instagram daily, waiting for the album to be announced.
