Who’s Got the Juice? DJ GQ’s Signature Event

With a career spanning over two decades, DJ GQ has established himself as a premier DJ; not just in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, but globally. During his journey to being an internationally recognized DJ, GQ has transformed the reggae/hip-hop scene while bringing many of his visions to life, including the iconic Juice party.

Juice, the top-shelf, all-you-can-drink, exclusive island vibe party, is the brainchild of DJ GQ. With its inception in the late 90’s with his cousin, the Juice party’s humble beginnings featured the Mighty Travellers with Master Lee, a renowned reggae group from Jamaica. The Juice party quickly became the hottest event known to feature the best acts of reggae and Caribbean music, including household names such as Red Rat, Kevin Lyttle, and Mad Stuntman.

In 2008, DJ GQ decided to revamp the Juice party alongside his colleague, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, who was a member of Black Chiney at the time. This collaboration marked an evolution of the Juice party and truly made it a staple in the Caribbean music scene. DJ GQ’s vision came full circle at this year’s Juice in April.

Walshy Fire and DJ GQ’s legendary vibes made the entire venue erupt with dancing all night. Between the chic rooftop venue, endless flow of drinks, the perfectly tailored music, the LED drummers, and early support from DJ Top Feelin, the crowd was prepared to stay well into the wee hours of the morning.

In between sets, DJ GQ and Walshy Fire would happily recall past events that led them to where they are today. Walshy Fire proudly announced on the mic that DJ GQ was one of the first people to ever book him as a DJ, enhancing the vibe of camaraderie and friendship at Juice 2022. Even in the midst of keeping the crowd going, DJ GQ couldn’t help but formulate plans for future Juice events.

Local partygoers and people from the music industry alike attended Juice 2022, including JonFX, a Grammy nominated producer hailing from Jamaica. JonFX has worked with prominent artists such as Shabba Ranks, Vybz Kartel, and XXXTentacion. Born from the epic vibes at Juice, DJ GQ’s upcoming record, “Wine Pon It” is a collaboration with JonFX and Vybz Kartel. The record evokes DJ GQ’s signature style of blending reggae sounds with EDM, reflecting his upbringing in South Florida. By blending commercial sounds with reggae, this record is one that few can resist bopping their head to.

With another successful Juice event in the books, DJ GQ is only getting started. Throughout his career as a DJ, having his own signature event is the crowning jewel of his ever-expanding music empire. His loyal supporters and fans are patiently waiting for the next installment of Juice. Until then, fans can expect new music coming soon as well as the grand re-opening of his bar in June 2022, GQ’s Craft House in Sunrise, Florida.
