Don Omar, a 46-year-old reggaeton pioneer, announced on Instagram that he is battling cancer.
He posted a photo of his hospital wristband from a specialty hospital in Orlando and wrote, “Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer,” concluding with “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #fuckcancer.”
Details of his diagnosis were not disclosed.
Don Omar, who helped globalize reggaeton with hits from his 2003 debut album “The Last Don,” including “Dile” and “Dale Don Dale,” is currently on his “Back to Reggaetón Tour.”
The tour’s second leg starts on August 7 in Oakland, California, and ends on September 15 in Elmont, New York.
This is his first tour since the 2015 Kingdom Tour with Daddy Yankee, supporting his 2023 album “Forever King,” featuring artists like Chencho Corleone, Maluma, and Residente.
