Cardi B has always been open about her hustle. The Bronx-born emcee revealed when it comes to raising her children with ex Offset, her biggest concern is ensuring her kids develop a strong drive to succeed, no matter their path.
That’s a big deal, and it’s cool that she’s being vulnerable about something so personal like her children being raised with privilege and opportunity.
Let’s dive in …
On January 29, Cardi revealed her worries on Instagram Stories, saying, “My biggest fear is my kids not having that DRIVE. IDGAF what you wanna do!! MAKE A BILLION DOLLARS OUT OF IT!” Her message was clear—Cardi wants her children, Kulture, 6, Wave, 3, and her 4-month-old baby girl (whose name remains private), to understand the importance of hard work and ambition.
Having worked tirelessly to get where she is, Cardi knows the kind of effort required to succeed, especially in the entertainment industry. After starting as a cast member on Love & Hip Hop: New York in 2015, Cardi’s breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of her hit single “Bodak Yellow,” which catapulted her to international fame. Before her music career, Cardi spent four years as a stripper, which shaped her perspective on the value of hard work.
Going back, Cardi has long emphasized the importance of effort and perseverance in her family, sharing her pride in her kids’ achievements. In 2023, after her eldest daughter Kulture graduated from pre-kindergarten, Cardi posted on Instagram: “My baby moving on up. I’m a emotional proud mommy. Give me good grades and I’ll give you the world baby.” She also shared a video of Kulture announcing her future career aspirations, proudly declaring, “When I grow up, I want to be a doctor.”
Get this: despite the privileges her children may have, Cardi is determined that they understand the need to stay hungry for success. In a 2022 interview with Vogue Singapore, she acknowledged that her kids will never experience the struggles she faced growing up, which is why she’s committed to keeping them grounded. “They need to know to never feel comfortable,” she said. “Don’t ever feel like, ‘I’m going to get it because I’m Cardi and Offset’s kid.’”
Cardi’s message to her children is clear: “Even though my kids are well-off, I want them to know that when you work for things and achieve it, it’s more respected—especially when people see that you bust your a– for it.”
As Cardi continues to navigate motherhood and her successful career, her goal remains to raise children who are motivated and driven to pursue their dreams, whatever those may be.
