Drake Throws Light Jab at LeBron James During Australian Tour Kickoff

Who said Drake is out for the count? Not in the slightest. At the sold-out arena concert in Perth, Australia, kicking off his Anita Max Win Tour, Drizzy seemingly took a shot at NBA HOFer LeBron James by altering a lyric from his 2018 hit “Nonstop.”

It went down on February 4, the 6 God changed the iconic line “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” to “How do I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?” — a move many fans believe reflects ongoing tensions between the two stars.

This lyrical switch comes shortly after Drake appeared to take aim at LeBron in his track “Fighting Irish Freestyle.” In the song, which takes its title from LeBron’s high school team, Drake seems to reference the Lakers star’s attendance at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert last summer, rapping, “The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Seemed like they loved every minute / Just know this shit is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”

In the freestyle, Drake also reflects on the once-close relationship he shared with LeBron, referencing past moments like exchanging watches and LeBron’s involvement in his personal life. However, the rapper alludes to feelings of betrayal, rapping, “I was sadly mistaken, the loyalty wasn’t a given.”

As the night concluded, Drake made a statement to the crowd, reminding them, “My name is Drake. I started doing music in 2008. I come all the way from Toronto, Canada. The year is now 2025, and no matter what, Drizzy Drake is very much alive and that’s all thanks to you. I love you.” The moment left fans wondering if the ongoing tension between the two could continue to play out through the music.
