Surprise, surprise. Nah, not really … King James has reaffirmed his loyalty to Kendrick Lamar, seemingly in response to Drake’s recent remarks aimed at the NBA star. Makes sense. He’s on the side of a lot of who’s who in the so-called entertainment industry.
On February 5, LeBron shared his enthusiasm for Kendrick’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance by posting a clip from Kendrick’s 2022 appearance during Dr. Dre’s headlining set. In the post, LeBron wrote, “He gon’ kill that [poo emoji]!!!! Can’t wait Bart Scott voice,” referring to former NFL player and sports analyst Bart Scott’s famous catchphrase.
We see you.
But does Drizzy care? The 6 God is kind of busy selling out shows on the Anita Max Win tour in Australia.
We can all agree that LeBron, who was once close to Drake before their falling out related to last year’s feud with Kendrick, has recently found himself at the center of tension following some pointed comments from the rapper.
During the opening of Drake’s Anita Max Win Tour in Australia, the artist altered the lyrics of his 2018 song “Nonstop,” which originally referenced LeBron with the line, “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” At his Perth concert, Drake switched it up, saying, “How do I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?”
It’s interesting how people can go from BFFs to picking sides of a squabble that they don’t have a dog in the fight.
Drake’s track “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” which takes its name from LeBron’s high school team, also seemed to address frustrations with LeBron’s public support for Kendrick, as well as other figures like NBA star DeMar DeRozan. On the song, Drake rapped, “The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Seemed like they loved every minute / Just know this shit is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”
LeBron has not publicly commented on the song, but his actions seem to speak volumes. After attending Kendrick’s concert, LeBron subtly contacted Drake on social media. In August, the NBA star posted an Instagram Story showing off a pair of Drake’s Nike Air Force Ones, which feature the message “Love you forever” and an infinity symbol emoji, signaling that despite any tensions, there remains a level of respect.
Anyways, when Luka suit up ya’ll? We more interested in that for Bron.
