Boosie Badazz is good for a lot of discourse these days, and most recently, he sparked more controversy following Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, making a bold statement about Serena Williams’ appearance and her past connection with Drake.
The rapper took to social media the day after the game, claiming that the tennis champion looked like someone “heartbroken by Drake” as she danced to Kendrick’s song “Not Like Us.”
Well, she was dancing to a song that disses Drizzy, so it’s not too crazy to think … right or nah?
“Serena giving heartbroken by Drake vibes [laughing emojis],” Boosie posted. He followed it up with a criticism of how artists who’ve benefitted from Drake’s collaborations have failed to speak positively about him, saying, “Just imagining how Drake feels after boosting so many artist careers with his features, and those same people don’t have anything nice to say. That’s weak as heck to me.”

Boosie’s comments reignited discussions about Drake’s past references to Serena Williams, including his 2016 single “Too Good.” In a video on his 100 Gigs website, Drake had admitted that his relationship inspired the song with Serena. “It’s funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them,” he said in the clip, adding that Serena would hear it loud and clear but not take offense. That part.
The tension also resurfaced through Drake’s 2022 track “Middle of the Ocean” from his Her Loss album, where he took a jab at Serena’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, calling him a “groupie.”
While Serena and Drake briefly dated in 2011, they appeared to maintain a friendly relationship afterward, with Drake attending her tennis matches and even dining with her in 2015.
