Nearly two decades after Making the Band 2 became a cultural phenomenon, former contestant Sara Rivers is taking legal action against Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming that her experience on the show was abusive and exploitative.
According to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Rivers accuses Diddy of mistreatment that was broadcast to millions as entertainment. The lawsuit specifically cites the infamous moment from season two when Diddy ordered contestants to walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn for a slice of Junior’s cheesecake. Rivers describes the three-hour journey as a form of abuse rather than a simple reality TV challenge.
Beyond the cheesecake incident, Rivers alleges she was forced to sleep in an open bay with four male contestants despite being married at the time. She claims she was threatened with elimination if she refused to comply.
The lawsuit also names MTV, Viacom, and several former Bad Boy Entertainment employees, including Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, and his former assistant, Fonzworth Bentley. Rivers accuses Diddy of intentionally sabotaging her career by dismantling Da Band while allegedly keeping most of her earnings from the show.
In addition to claims of exploitation, Rivers accuses Diddy of sexual harassment and assault, stating that he once backed her into a corner, ran his hand across her breasts, and blocked her from leaving.
Rivers is seeking damages from Diddy and the other defendants in the lawsuit. The case adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the music mogul whose past business dealings and conduct continue to be scrutinized.
