You’re Fyred. We had to say that, just once. Okay, so Ja Rule has spoken out regarding the possibility of his involvement in the much-discussed Fyre Festival 2 following the notorious failure of the original event.
The rapper, who co-organized the ill-fated festival later revealed to be a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by Billy McFarland, recently appeared on FOX 5’s Good Day New York to discuss his role in the upcoming event.
When asked whether he would perform at the revived festival, Ja Rule responded with humor, saying, “Oh Lord? No, he isn’t!” before attempting to steer the conversation in a lighter direction by toasting with host Rosanna Scotto.
He later added: “Nah, I’m not going to be there, but cheers!”
Billy McFarland, the convicted organizer of the original Fyre Festival, is reportedly working on bringing the festival back, this time on Isla Mujeres, a picturesque island off the coast of Cancún, Mexico. However, local tourism authorities have denied any knowledge of these plans.
That part.
In a previous interview, McFarland suggested that 50 Cent could be a headliner for Fyre Festival 2 instead of Ja Rule. He said, “I’m actually gonna try to call 50 Cent later today and come and see if he’ll headline Sunday night… We gotta give 50 Cent the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could.”
Gotta love the ambition.
McFarland, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2018 and was sentenced to six years in prison, was released in 2022. In April 2021, a $2 million settlement was reached between the festival organizers and 277 ticket holders, providing some compensation to those affected by the failed event.
Justice was more than served.
Attorney Ben Meiselas, who represented the defrauded customers, shared his perspective on the situation: “Billy [McFarland] went to jail, ticket holders can get some money back, and some very entertaining documentaries were made. Now that’s justice.”
