50 Cent is back in his trolling bag, and this time, the heat is aimed straight at Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Again …
The hip hop mogul and Power franchise producer took to Instagram to throw shade at his longtime rival after news broke that Mayweather filed a massive $100 million defamation lawsuit. The boxer is suing Business Insider, its parent company Insider Inc., and journalist Daniel Geiger, accusing them of publishing what he claims is a “knowingly false and defamatory” article that damaged his growing real estate brand.
ICYMI, the federal suit, filed in the Southern District of New York, lays out Mayweather’s case that Geiger allegedly ignored legitimate proof of his business credentials. According to court documents, Geiger “repeatedly ignored documentary proof of Mayweather’s ownership and business success, refused multiple invitations to review verified transaction records, and relied instead on unnamed sources and innuendo.”
But wait, Mayweather alleges that the article cost him big, claiming he “lost lease opportunities at his buildings” and missed out on “emergency rent-freeze concessions” due to the reporting. He even suggests that the story may have been tainted by “racial and political bias.”
Get this–50 Cent was quick to dismiss the legal drama. With trademark sarcasm, he posted, “Well that case is going nowhere because you didn’t do the deal champ. He must have named the writer separately to make him have to pay his own legal team. Champ mad.”

Despite the social media roasting, Mayweather insists his lawsuit is rooted in principle. “This lawsuit isn’t just about setting the record straight,” his attorney Bobby Samini said. “It’s about holding the press accountable when they cross the line from journalism into calculated character assassination.”
Naturally, Mayweather himself doubled down: “I’m 48 years old, and I’ve never sued a media outlet,” he said. “But the media outlets, throughout my life, have bashed me, talked bad about me, spoke bad about my family… Judge me for the person that you know.”
Business Insider, meanwhile, has come out swinging. “We will vigorously defend against this meritless attempt to discredit our reporting and smear our reporter,” a spokesperson said.
As usual, 50’s commentary lit up social media—and whether you side with the champ or the troll, one thing’s for sure: these two know how to turn headlines into heavyweight drama.
