Staten Island Native Pete Davidson Salutes Wu-Tang Legend as His Shaolin Fave

Pete Davidson is no stranger to hip hop fandom, and when it comes to Staten Island rap royalty, the comedian made his allegiance crystal clear during a recent sit-down on Hot Ones.

Asked by host Sean Evans about his favorite member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Davidson didn’t hesitate. “Method Man. Method Man, by far, because he’s still doing it and he’s at the top of his game. It’s very impressive,” he said. That love runs deep, as fans may remember the two sharing a moment on screen during Davidson’s run on Saturday Night Live.

While Davidson gives flowers to Meth for his longevity and lyrical strength, the Wu-Tang MC continues to branch out. Method Man has been focusing more on acting and producing, telling Red Bull in a past interview, “We are not even focused on no Blackouts or any of that stuff right now. Brother, we are focused on this TV and movie stuff and producing as well. We’ve got to get these stories out there.”

That might be disappointing news for longtime fans of his work with Redman, especially those still holding out for a third installment of their Blackout! series. “I want to do a Blackout! 3, maybe like 12 songs,” Red once said, but the project has remained shelved. The duo’s first album dropped in 1999 and hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200. A decade later, Blackout! 2also cracked the top 10, cementing their status as one of rap’s most iconic tandems.

Method Man has still been making waves, even outside the booth. He recently appeared on The Masked Singer in a full stud muffin costume and performed the 90s classic “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe before getting eliminated. Even when disguised, the legend stays visible, reminding fans why he continues to command attention across generations and genres.
