Grammy-winning producer DJ Mustard is making waves outside the studio with the launch of his very own condiment. In a fitting partnership with Heinz, the Compton native has dropped a limited-edition Chipotle Honey Mustard, officially becoming the brand’s first-ever “Chief Mustard Officer.”
The new flavor marks Heinz’s first mustard innovation in over a decade and is now available exclusively through Amazon, Target, and Walmart, but only while supplies last.
The campaign rollout cleverly includes Kendrick Lamar and Lefty Gunplay’s track “TV Off,” with the viral “MUSTAAAAARD” ad-lib making a perfect soundtrack for the announcement. The track originally caught fire last November and now has a new life as the soundtrack for Mustard’s foray into the food world.
Originally announced back in February, the collaboration reflects a deeply personal connection for the beatmaker. “This collab coming to life is a big deal and something that has been decades in the making for me,” said Mustard. “Everyone knows me for my beats and sound, but what they don’t know is that cooking and grilling is a huge part of my life. I’m on the grill every chance I get. I’ve been using HEINZ since I was a kid, so partnering with them is something I’ve always wanted to do.”
Kraft Heinz’s North America Chief Marketing Officer, Todd Kaplan, echoed the excitement: “Much like HEINZ, Mustard is someone who goes all in when he creates something to put out into the world. It’s been great to collaborate with him on so many levels, as this partnership will manifest in an amazing new sauce remix that we know our collective fans will love.”
The DJ-turned-culinary curator is also working with Heinz on a series of recipes featuring the new sauce, giving fans even more ways to experience his signature flavor. With more surprises planned, this looks like the beginning of a flavorful new chapter for Mustard.
