Former Gap Band Member Hosts Prostate Cancer Benefit Concert For Uninsured Musicians

The Victor Orlando Hope Foundation (VOHF) will host its Prostate Cancer Awareness Concert on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 6–10 p.m. at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. Headlined by The Word Up Story, featuring original members of Cameo, with comedian Jay Lamont opening, the benefit will raise funds for uninsured musicians. Tickets are available at vohf.info or by calling the Saban Theatre.

The event is presented by Victor Orlando, VOHF Founder and CEO, alongside Alton L. Garrett, Jr. of Garrett Management Group, with Ambassador Diane E. Watson, Ph.D. serving as Advisory Board Chairwoman.

Founded in 2000, VOHF works to reduce prostate cancer deaths in the music community by offering education, early detection, and support. Uninsured musicians in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties can learn more about free PSA testing at vohf.info.

Victor Orlando, best known as a percussionist for The Gap Band, Chaka Khan and LL Cool J, shared his own prostate cancer journey, noting he has been cancer-free for four years. His experience inspired the foundation’s focus on helping uninsured peers who often lack access to life-saving care.

The concert lineup includes Victor Orlando and Fun-Ja-La, Dr. Gail Johnson & Jazz In Pink, Patryce Banks (Larry Graham Central Station), Roman Johnson (Stevie Wonder’s Musical Director), Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, and tributes to Prince and Elton John, among others.

Sponsors include Victor Orlando, Garrett Management Group, Priority Family Care Center, Charles Wright, and Diana Sellers.
