This past weekend, the Ultimate Rap League along with battle rap pioneer Smack White and DJ Don Demarco, held the Summer Madness 3 event at Stage 48 in Manhattan. The venue was packed like sardines as early as 5pm, even though the first battle between Arsenal and K-Shine didn’t pop off until 7. Hip Hop’s underground elite was in the building including Star formerly of Hot 97, DJ Kid Capri, Fred The Godson, Dip Set’s JR Writer and 40 Cal, and a host of battle MCs such as DNA, Hollow Da Don, Cortez, Conceited, and Persia of VH1’s White Rapper Show fame. The card also included Big T vs. O Red, Ms. Hustle vs. Jaz The Rapper, and Math Hoffa vs. Serious Jones. It was reported that later in the night, BK native Math stole Harlem’s Serious on stage, just confirming the passion that exists when these verbal warriors touch the mic.
