p>Every year in mid-March, all kinds of media outlets and genres gather in the comforting warmth of Austin, Texas for one of the country’s biggest music and movie festivals, SXSW, notorious for hosting showcases featuring the biggest superstars-to-be. For example, in 2011, a very small Ti$A showcase featured performances by Kendrick Lamar & ScHoolboy Q at SxSW, that probably couldn’t fit more than 200 people. Kendrick Lamar has since sold out 4 New York shows at legendary venues and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. Same holds true for J. Cole, Big Sean & most recently A$AP Rocky. This year we saw some pretty legendary moments at SXSW, and The Source has got you covered if you were stuck elsewhere.

French Montana’s Fader Fort Performance

French Montana is arguably one of the hottest rappers out right now, and fresh off of setting the record for the quickest sell-out of New York’s legendary venues SOBs, the Bad Boy rep headed down south to assist Fader with their annual Fader Fort showcase at SXSW. For 40 minutes, French ran through his signature cuts, and shocked the crowd by bringing out Puff Daddy himself, along with Seattle upstart Macklemore, who’s recently gone 4 times platinum for his “Thrift Shop” single. Check out a clip of French doing his “Stay Schemin’” verse below.

Wyclef, ScHoolboy Q & Ab-Soul At The Source x SOBs Showcase

Joined by G.O.O.D. Music’s Travis $cott, Grand Hustle’s Trae Tha Truth, and Wyclef Jean, ScHoolboy Q & Ab-Soul headlined The Source & SOBs SXSW showcase in grand style. As Trae gave a tribute to the fallen soldiers of hip-hop, ScHoolboy & Ab came out and ran through their best hits, including “Terrorist Threats”, “Nightmare on Figg Street” and “Druggys With Hoes 2”. TDE continues to leave their mark on the industry with their energetic and engaging performances.

Big K.RI.T.’s Def Jam Showcase

Big K.R.I.T. has always been one of the best young performances this game has seen in recent years, and this years Def Jam showcase, sponsored by Diamond Supply, was no different. Making his entrance to the title track of his last free album 4EvaNADay, Krizzle dazzled for the half-hour on stage, debuting some new music halfway through. His newest project, King Remembered In Time, should be out soon.

Justin Timberlake At The Warehouse

There’s no need for us to introduce this next video, or artist for that matter, especially considering the media blitz he’s caused over the past couple weeks. But, for structural purposes, we’ll remind you to go buy his new album tomorrow. Check out his multi-faceted performance of “Senorita” after pressing play.

Kendrick Lamar’s Spotify Showcase

Kendrick Lamar has had a record year, and he’s not stopping any time soon, as he hits Austin for the festivities alongside the Spotify Party House, with a dope performance of his energetic “Backseat Freestyle” amongst other tracks.

The Illmore

Travis Scott, A$AP Ferg & TDE were just a few of the people who showed up at IllRoots Illmore showcase in Austin. Held in a unique, residential-resembling venue, the party-esque showcase proved to be one for the ages, as the entire Black Hippy invaded the stage, making for some historic photos and footage.

Future at The Fader Fort

Fader always puts together some dope performances every year, and this year Future Hendrix took the stage and ran through a collection of his hits, which is an extensive catalog to say the least. Seemingly a part of almost every top 20 rap hit as of late, he had the crowd on tilt as “Karate Chop” and “Love Me” filled the Texas air.

A$AP Ferg At The Nice Kicks Showcase

Ferg brought that work to Austin, Texas as he got the party started with his gut-wrenching trap anthems. Trap Lord is set to be coming soon, and if this is what his stage presence looks like before his project even drops, its scary to think of what it might resemble after.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis x MTV Woodie Awards

Macklemore has been on quite a tear since landing in our Unsigned Hype in 2012. This past week Macklemore and Ryan Lewis delivered a great performance for their latest single, “Can’t Hold Us.”
