Lil Wayne’s Emmett Till line has cost him a big loss.

After Lil Wayne’s offensive lyric referencing Emmett Till on Future’s “Karate Chop” remix, the YMCMB rapper has faced a ton of backlash, Till’s family specifically. Shortly after Emmett Till’s family stated they would be going after Weezy’s sponsors, Lil Wayne released an apology to the Till family.

Despite Weezy’s apology, PepsiCo has severed ties between the two. PepsiCo released a statement regarding the situation stating Lil Wayne’s “offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand,” thus parting ways with the rapper.

On the other side of the fence Sarah Cunningham, a publicist for Wayne, kept things simple stating the departure was over “creative differences,” but that the two sides had left on good terms.

Lil Wayne and Tyler, The Creator both have had recent issues with Mountain Dew.
