Released 23 years ago today, The Source remembers the classic Eric B. & Rakim album Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em

The third album from the dynamic duo, Eric B. & Rakim, Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em hit the store shelves on cassettes and vinyl on this day in 1990. Any music that the God Rakim put out at that time was the most sought after track of any real Hip Hop aficionado. We here at The Source selected it one of the “Top 100 Hip Hop Albums Of All Time” in 1998. Songs like “In The Ghetto”, “Mahogany”, and the album’s title track will forever be etched in the minds of Eric B. & Rakim fans, even almost a quarter century after its release.

The album was produced almost in its entirety by the late, legendary Hip Hop producer Paul C., and his then up and coming protege, Large Professor. Unfortunately, neither of those icons received the credit for the production on the album.

The Source salutes Eric B. and Rakim for giving Hip Hop such a timeless classic!
