People were not fans of the new Sprite Slam Dunk Contest format. The “Freestyle” round featured the dunkers doing various dunks in 90 seconds, looking like a layup line or regular shootaround. The East won that round and chose to go second in the “Battle” round. Each dunker missed their first attempt until John Wall came in and shut things down.
Wall jumped over his mascot (named G-Man) then brung it down then back up for reverse slam! It was easily the best dunk of the night. He secured the sweep win for the East (Paul George beat Harrison Barnes & Terrence Ross beat Damian Lillard). Wall also got the fan vote for Dunker of the Night.
Of course ever the dancer, Wall had to hit the latest dance so he did the “Nae Nae”.
