No question that John Wall is having a great season for the 31-29 Washington Wizards. The third year point guard out of Kentucky was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference player of the week and is playing out of his mind. With a team concept in mind, Wall is posting 20 points 9.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds-all numbers above his career average.
What’s the secret to his success in coach Randy Whitman’s system? “Finally understanding what the NBA was and could be for me,” Wall told The Source during NBA All Star Media Day. Wall had 17 points and dished out a career high-tying 16 assists in the team’s 122-103 win on Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. That same night, the Sixers honored one of Wall’s childhood idols, Allen Iverson.
Iverson’s number 3 jersey was retired in front of more than 20,000 fans at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.. It was a tribute to a man that despite his own missteps, introduced basketball to the inner city and streetball. Iverson’s hard work and passion were traits that the city of Philadelphia embraced with open arms.

Allen Iverson officially announced his retirement from basketball on October 30, 2013. His #3 jersey was lifted to the rafters at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and will never be worn again.
