Maker of the groundbreaking animated series in talks with Adult Swim for new series
Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has announced their partnership with Aaron McGruder, creator of the Boondocks series for the writer/producer’s new scripted comedy, Black Jesus.
The series stars newcomer Gerald Johnson as “Black Jesus” and also stars Charlie Murphy, Corey Holcomb (The Cleveland Show), and John Witherspoon (The Boondocks, Friday). Production has already started on the new series in L.A., which will premiere later this year.
The show finds Jesus living in present day Compton, CA on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of followers. Black Jesus is schedule to hit Adult Swim this fall with half hour episodes.
