You know I read it in a magazineeee…Well, not really, but you get the idea…

March 25th marks the 40th anniversary of legendary singer Elton John‘s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album. In celebration of the release, Miguel and Wale have collaborated to cover one of his most popular songs, “Bennie and the Jets.” Their rendition of the track drags the beat out and adds tons of bass, and with Miguel hitting those high notes & Wale adding some smooth bars, this is a pretty solid cover.  See what the man of the hour has to say about Miguel’s vocals:

“Miguel’s done a fantastic job,” John says. “It really makes the best of what the song is all about. And it is an unusual song. It’s not what I think is a hit record, but then that’s probably why it was a hit record, because it didn’t sound like anything else before. It’s important not to copy, and that’s what Miguel did.” (Rolling Stone)

The permed crooner & the MMG emcee are not the only ones who decided to jump on the Elton John bandwagon. In fact, every song from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road will be covered by various artists, including Fall Out Boy, the Zac Brown Band and more. Though it’ll be a few days before we get to hear all of this, Miguel and Wale’s “Bennie and the Jets” cover can be heard right here. Listen below.
