Over the weekend, a video surfaced on social media depicting a group of rather unruly females on an F train in lower Manhattan being rowdy as they tossed insults at one of the train’s passengers for wearing an “8-ball” jacket. He shot a few insults back, but things got physical after one of the girls stood up and confronted the man who was filming the incident with his phone. Shortly after, she engaged the “8-ball” jacket guy again, which is when he turned around and smacked “the soul out of” the shouting girl. A brawl ensued, and several of the train’s other passengers got involved.
According to The Gothamist, several people have been arrested in connection with the incident, including the man who sent the girl flying back with the smack heard ’round the internet, 25-year old Jorge Pena. Two of the females involved with the incident, including the one who smacked the camera phone toting passenger’s phone out of his hands several times, were arrested: 21-year old Danay Howard and 20-year old Shanique Campbell. Howard will be charged with felony assault and disorderly conduct, and Shanique has been hit with charges of misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct.
