Kobe Wanted Lin To Foul, Lin Didn’t Foul, Kobe Angry

Kobe Bryant’s new PG is still learning the ropes

Late in last night’s game with the Memphis Grizzlies, in which the Lakers played impressively, a situation presented itself in which Jeremy Lin was supposed to act immediately. As Michael Conley dribbled the ball at the top of the key, presumably in an effort to waste down the time on the clock so his Grizzlies could secure their road victory, Jeremy Lin was supposed to foul Conely and put him on the foul line. Lin didn’t. Instead, he watched as the clock on the Lakers’ chances for a miracle dwindled down.

Kobe, who was near the sideline guarding another Grizzlies player, reminded Lin to foul. First, a somewhat calm reminder, then, a loud shout, and after that, Mr. Mamba had seen enough. He sprinted towards Lin and Conley, and fouled Conley as he tried to get a shot off. Afterwards, Kobe swung at nothing in particular, and it wasn’t because he was feeling particularly jolly about what he just had to do.
