MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah have teased us with their DOOMSTARKS project for nearly a decade now, and most of us have long lost faith in it ever coming to fruition. It should come as no surprise to those who’ve followed the career of the mysterious metal-mask bearing DOOM, since he’s known to work on a different system of time as anyone else on this planet. After releasing “Victory Laps” in 2011 chatter about the DOOMSTARKS tandem died down, but now the Super Villain and Ghostface have once again joined forces, albeit this time with DOOM serving as a feature on the Ghost and BADBADNOTGOOD‘s collaborative track “Ray Gun”.
Ghost and BBNG’s upcoming joint album, Sour Soul, is set to drop Feb. 24 with features from Danny Brown, Elzhi, and more. Additionally, Ghostface has confirmed via a recent Reddit AMA that the aforementioned DOOMSTARKS album, Switch and Changeable, will release sometime this year. Of course the validity of that is for your to determine, because who really knows anything when you’re dealing with DOOM, right? “Ray Gun” however is a good indication that we may be receiving the project soon.
