We almost had a Taylor Swift situation at The Grammy Awards
We’re nearing the close of the 57th Grammy Awards, and Kanye West almost Kanye’d himself into another legendary awards show moment.
West Coast rocker Beck beat out Pharrell, Beyonce, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran for the “Album of the Year” award just a few minutes ago, and Kanye West wasn’t too happy about it. If you remember, it was when Taylor Swift beat out Beyonce at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards that the moment pictured above happened, which altered the course of both West and Swift’s careers forever. “I’ma let you finish but, Beyonce had one of the greatest music videos of all time!” Remember?
As Beck was about to begin his speech, Kanye was seen approaching the stage–and presumably the microphone–on the broadcast camera, but he quickly laughed, turned around, and headed back to his seat. Beck recovered quickly, invited all his collaborators to the stage, and completed his speech, but not before the entire venue exploded into laughter, some of it nervous.
Kanye didn’t actually say anything during the awkward incident, but his message was clear.
