Disney’s big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim‘s revisionist fairy tale musical Into The Woods is coming to DVD this month.
The film essentially works as a fairy tale crossover, blending characters and stories from such classic fables as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and others. The cast is star-studded (Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, James Corden), but it’s Meryl Streep‘s performance as The Witch truly steals the show, especially considering how many similar roles she’s turned down in the past.
Bonuses on the DVD/Blu-Ray will include commentary and various behind-the-scenes featurettes, as well as “She’ll Be Back,” an original song written by Sondheim exclusively for the film that didn’t make the cut. Keep an eye out for it at your local retailer starting March 24.
