Harry Belafonte, George Gresham and others will be on hand at today’s press conference about the historic march from the world’s capital to the nation’s capital
Today, a press conference is being held to announce the “March 2 Justice”, a 250 mile walk through five states to deliver the “Justice Package” to Congress, which is set to begin on Monday, April 13 in New York City and end a week April 21, 2014 in Washington D.C. The press conference is being held in the Penthouse of the SEIU1199 labor union office in Manhattan.
Joining today’s formal announcement to the press will be Honorary Chairs of March2Justice legendary civil rights activist and actor Harry Belafonte and renowned labor leader, George Gresham, President of 1199SEIU. Activists, endorsing organizations and elected officials will be aiming for this simple objective; marching for all the lives lost to police violence, ending racial profiling, demilitarizing our police forces, and to demand meaningful investment in our youth and communities.
