Born May 26th, former Fugees member Lauryn Hill has evolved since her movie debut in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. The Fugees released two studio albums, Blunted on Reality in 1994 and the Grammy Award-winning album The Score in 96′, which sold six million copies in the U.S. alone. Known for her rapping and singing, who can forget her rendition of Roberta Flack‘s “Killing Me Softly”.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill released in 98′ is Ms. Hill‘s only solo studio album. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has sold approximately eight million copies in the United States. It included the singles “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, “Ex-Factor” and “Everything Is Everything”. At the 41st Grammy Awards she earned five awards, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
Ms. Hill’s last full-length recording was the live album entitled MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, which was aired in 2001. Since she has left the limelight of the Hip Hop industry to raise her six children, five of whom are with Rohan Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley.
