“I’m hard to kill”
Earlier this month, Compton rapper YG was shot in the hip as he departed a recording studio in Los Angeles. Thankfully, he was not seriously injured, and a close affiliate of his, Karen Civil, quickly took to social media to confirm that the “Who Do You Love” rapper would be just fine.
Since then, he’s been understandably quite and under the radar, but in a new interview with Billboard, YG–born Keenon Jackson–breaks his silence. In the conversation, Jackson touches on everything from the night he was shot–he was only shot once, but the bullet left him with three wounds–to some of the new songs he’s been working on for his forthcoming sophomore album, the follow-up to our 2014 Album of the Year, My Krazy Life. YG revealed that the title of the sophomore LP is Still Krazy, and teased two records, one of them named “Twist Your Fingers” to Billboard.
As far as DJ Mustard‘s involvement? If you remember, he and YG had a very public spat over fees that Mustard was reportedly never paid for his work on YG’s debut, and on Still Krazy, YG hints that his go-to producer’s involvement is limited. “No, we straight. He got a joint on the new album I think. I’m still figuring it all out.”
