In our most recent issue of The Source Magazine Power 30, which is currently on newsstands, we listed Genius f/k/a Rap Genius, as the number 1 digital Hip-Hop platform on the web. This was a historic move considering WorldStarHipHop had owned the #1 spot since the inception of the Power 30 List. As the accolades and achievements continue to role in for the Genius brand, it has recently been revealed that Eminem has become the latest investor in the brand.
Aside from the monetary investment, Em will also personally be annotating some of his own lyrics on the site.

Coming up we would always obsess over the lyrics from our favorite MCs. Picking everything apart, trying to get into their heads,” Eminem said in a statement. “I still do that today and Genius helps to make it a worldwide conversation. Pretty amazing to me.
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s longtime manager and co-owner of Shady Records echoed a similar statement.
Genius provides an avenue for fans to dig deeper into their favorite songs, but more importantly, it gives artists a way to communicate their artistic intent directly to those fans. For an artist like Eminem, the intricacies and nuances in his lyrics are very layered and his art is a perfect fit for this type of tool. We’re excited about what this partnership brings for both sides.
This move is yet another major play on the part of Genius. It will be very interesting to see how things play out.
