The last time we saw Mariah Carey as an animated character, she was playing herself in the video for her 1999 Jay-Z assisted single, “Heartbreaker.” Sixteen years later, Carey is taking her talents back to the world of animation in upcoming film The Lego Batman Movie. As the most recently announced member to the cast, the Grammy Award winning singer will lend her voice as the mayor of crime-riddled city Gotham.

Carey joins star-studded cast Will Arnett (Batman a.k.a Bruce Wayne), Michael Cera (Robin), Zach Galifianakis (The Joker), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl) and Ralph Fiennes (Alfred Pennyworth). The Warner Brothers spin-off is set for a May 2017 release and is directed by Chris McKay.

We’ve seen Carey previously in small but strong roles in films such as Precious, The Butler and You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (and who can forget Glitter?). Her animated roles include stints on American Dad and The Proud Family.
