If you follow him on Instagram, it’s obvious Floyd Mayweather is enjoying his retirement. However, coming up on the anniversary of his fight against Manny Pacquiao the champ is suggesting he might return to the ring.
In an interview with Showtime on Saturday [April 30] Mayweather confirmed he’s happily retired but said he has spoken with specific networks about the possibilities of a return, reports ESPN.
“Everyone is asking me, ‘Is Floyd Mayweather coming back?’” Mayweather said. “Right now, I’m happy being on the side, but I’ve been talking with CBS and Showtime, and you just never know. But, right now, I’m just happy on this side.”
What would it take for the pound-for-pound king to come back?
“As of right now, some crazy numbers have been thrown my way—upwards, of course, of nine figures,” he told Showtime. “But I’m truly blessed beyond belief, and I really don’t know what we’re going to do. But right now, I’m really happy being on this side helping our fighters.”
Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision in ‘The Fight of the Century’ on May 2, 2015. Then, to tie his career record with heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano, he took on Andre Berto in September last year.
“My career is over. It’s official,” he declared following the Berto fight.
Since then Mayweather never wavered from that decision, until his talks yesterday. Only time will tell whether or not the champ will return.
