Reggie Bush has signed a 1-year deal to join the Buffalo Bills today, his 5th team in 11 years at the pro level. After being selected by the New Orleans Saints with the #2 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Bush was expected to be one of the most electrifying rookies in league history. However, he struggled as an everyday back, and became known more as a versatile utility player on offense than a bonafide star running back, which of course was his role at USC.
Bush rushed for 1,000 yards as recently as 2013 as the Lions starting running back, but Bush’s inconsistency has led to him falling out of favor as a starting, every down running back in the NFL. He won’t get a chance to be that in Bufalo, as their starting RB is currently LeSean McCoy, easily one of the best talents at the position, but Bush will have a shot at being the primary back platooning for McCoy out of the backfield, which could potentially lead to another starting opportunity down the road, especially if Buffalo can finally get over the hump this year and earn a playoff berth.
