For more on Moosh & Twist check out what they had to say about their start in music and their newest video “Bring Me Some” below.

How did you two get started?
We started making music in eighth grade with our Spanish teacher on weekends, we were inspired by a few family friends who had a Hip Hop group at the time, and that encouraged us to make our own music.

When did you two realize it was more than just a hobby or a passion?
We always knew this is what we wanted to do, but we knew it was something serious when one of our first videos “City Kids” got 60,000 views in two days, that was a major turning point, but this was always been our passion.

How do you all describe your sound to people you haven’t heard before?
We would describe our sound as positive uplifting music, but we also talk about real stuff, like police brutality, relationships, and family. The overall message is be yourself and always do what makes you happy, you can’t give a f*ck what others think about you.

Who are some of your influences? What is some advice that has stuck with you?
We’ve been influenced by a lot of music from our hometown of Philly like The Roots as well as our favorites like Kanye West, Drake and Lil Wayne. Moosh also grew up in the church, so gospel music has played a big part as well. We’ve always trusted “us” and stayed true to the music we wanted to make, the main advice we have gotten was to stay consistent and do what makes you happy.

What do you all hope people take away from your music?
With our music we want people to be happy and get through situations, whether it be fighting with your significant other, going through money problems or just having a good time with friends. Even at our shows we give our fans an experience, we will laugh together, rage together, and even get emotional, it’s all a part of the experience. It’s very important to leave your problems at the door and enjoy yourself.

How long have you all been doing what you do?
We’ve been best friends since we were six years old and we started making music at like 12, 13 years old so it’s been a long and exciting journey.

Is there an early memory you all would like to share about getting into making music?
The best memories have definitely been going to Europe on tour. That was a crazy milestone in our career as well as playing Wireless Fest. We sold out a venue in Philly called the TLA on Twizzy’s birthday and that was also just a moment that gave us goosebumps. Most importantly we’re looking forward to making more memories.
