After planning to fly on Air Force One with her husband, Melania Trump in a last minute-decision has changed her mind and will not travel with President Donald Trump to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. Melania’s change of heart comes after the media got a hold of new details about President Trump’s 2006 affair with porn star, Stormy Daniels, which Daniels detailed in a 2011 interview with In Touch Magazine. It is not certain if Melania’s trip cancellation is directly related to the Stormy Daniels story, which was originally broken by the Wall Street Journal.
According to the Wall Street Journal, President Trump’s legal team paid the porn star $130,000 so that she would not disclose the affair during the 2016 campaign. This non-disclosure agreement came following the infamous ‘Billy Bush Tape’ where Trump is caught on a hot mic detailing sexually assaulting women while he was married to the current First Lady.
Following the release of the tape, many women came forward with experiences similar to what the businessman turned president described in the hot mic recording. President Trump denied all claims of sexual harassment and assault.
Whether or not Melania cancelled the trip because of the Stormy Daniels report is up for debate, but from the outside looking in, it seems clear that this new lifestyle for the First Family has taken a toll on their relationship.
On different occasions we’ve seen the First Lady twice reject holding her husband’s hand in public. At the start of Trump’s presidency, Mrs. Trump did not move into the White House right away, but Melania claims that she chose to stay in New York, because of their son Barron, who was finishing up his school year before moving to the White House.
A friend of Melania also told Vanity Fair that Melania never wanted to be First Lady, and other reports suggest she cried (not tears of joy) on election night. Melania’s team has since denied these reports.
