The new special is expected to pick up where the New Edition miniseries left off, and cover Brown’s dramatic depart from the boy band, his romantic relationships; including his tumultuous marriage with ex-wife and late iconic singer Whitney Houston, his alleged affair with Janet Jackson, and life as a father.

Directed by Spike Lee‘s protégé Kiel Adrian Scott, and written by Abdul Williams and executive produced by Jesse Collins, who both previously worked on BET’s three-part biographical miniseries The New Edition Story, Woody McClain who portrayed Brown in The New Edition Story, will reprise his role as the singer in The Bobby Brown Story.
