New Balance and J. Crew are no strangers to whipping up a cool collaboration, as we saw this past summer with the BBQ-inspired 998 collection. The latest borrows cues from the art-centered Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it’s definitely got us wanting to take a company trip to the American southwest.
The aptly-titled “Canyon Road” pack features aztec-inspired iterations of the 999 and the 999r NB silhouettes. The former colorway is the standout of the two, which features added hints of blue on the heel and tongue that compliment the brown, orange and yellow-gold hues that both models display. For $10 more, the 999r adds a little more to the offering, built with a bootie-style insole and perforated toe box for a more lightweight construction in comparison to its predecessor. Both are dope either way, so you can’t go wrong choosing between the two. Then again, just get both!
