The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will be paid tribute by the Recording Academy in a grand fashion. It has been announced that film mogul Tyler Perry will be hosting a special tribute show on CBS in honor of the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul will be taped Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at 6 PM PT at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and by Perry, will be broadcast later in 2019.

Confirmed performers are Alicia Keys, Patti LaBelle, Kelly Clarkson, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Celine Dion, John Legend, SZA, and Janelle Monáe.

Record executive Clive Davis, who curated the event along with Ken Ehrlich and Neil Portnow, said, “I am thrilled to have the Recording Academy and CBS as partners in this global tribute to my very dear friend Aretha Franklin. Aretha was more than the Queen of Soul; she was a national treasure.
