If you follow hip-hop news, you’ve heard about Azealia Banks many beefs, the latest being with fellow female MC Angel Haze, which escalated to a Twitter feud with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. If you missed the Angel Haze tweef – you can read more about it here.
Banks, who claims to be a bi-sexual, let her emotions get the best of her and hurled a homophobic slur at Perez, who is openly gay, deeming him a “messy fa**ot”.
Her use of the gay-bashing term set Twitter off, and she quickly tried to defend herself, saying she wasn’t using the term to offend Perez as a homosexual.
A faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference.

My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language. Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol

GLAAD issued the following statement in regards to Azealia’s cruel comment about Perez:
“Regardless of her intent or her personal definition, what matters is the meaning given to that word by those who hear it, and the damage it causes when they do,” GLAAD said in a statement. “Undoubtedly there are gay kids who follow her on Twitter who hear this word in an entirely different context. This word is used almost universally by bullies, often as part of a larger verbal or physical assault. This word hurts those kids, no matter what Banks meant by it.
Glaad and all these others need to give it a break… Picking and choosing when to be offended….. Pfffft, as fucking if.

Whether Azealia aimed to offend or not, it wouldn’t hurt her to think before she speaks. If all the publicity you get isn’t in regards to your music, but about your countless Twitter beefs – it’s all bad, ma. On a related note – we recalled her past Twitter beefs in a slideshow last week, you can check that out right here.
