Staff Inspection: Sean Lynch

Staff Inspection

As the Hip Hop Bible, we are for the people and by the people. But to get you guys better acquainted with what makes the Brain Trust tick, we’re taking you behind closed doors and into the mind of a Source representative. Each week we’ll present someone affiliated with The Source and his/her favorite recent single, music video, and project. On top of that you’ll get his/her pair of kicks he/she is rocking at the very moment and a current events topic to discuss.

This week we have The Source’s Assistant Editor in Chief, Sean Lynch. When he’s not managing the website or interviewing your favorite rapper’s rapper, Sean likes to steal your pretzels, talk up his Cowboys, and generally, go hard in the paint.

1. Single: The Underachievers – 6th Sense

I advise a duo from Brooklyn named The Underachievers. If you’re not familiar, get familiar. Their latest offering off their upcoming mixtape, Indigoism is a perfect example of their talents. I hate to be the one that’s like they sound like or remind me of, but that track is straight Souls of Mischief meets Outkast. The Underachievers will own 2013.

2. Music Video: Action Bronson – The Symbol

First off the cinematography for this video reminds me of the days I use to watch TJ Hooker and Hunter with my grandma. Secondly Action Bronson’s over zealous acting ability is something else.

3. Album: Kendrick Lamar – good kid, m.A.A.d city

I don’t know about you but this album is still in repeat for me and a lot of the staff. As a intern back in 2010 I followed Kendrick from the ground up. It’s dope to see him getting the recognition he deserves. We put “Money Trees” as the a second best song of the year and it was. Love the overall story telling coupled with an array of great beats. The overall response to our Rookie of The Year shows Hip-Hop’s ear is still on tuned.

4. Kicks: Griffey’s

For Christmas I received an old school pair of Griffey’s. I’m not crazy about kicks. I usually just buy what I see which means you won’t catch me camping out for a week for kicks. That just childish. Unless that’s how you flip your money than more power to you, camp on….

5. Notre Dame or Alabama: NOTRE DAME

Three cheers for old Notre Dame….. enough said. In the office right now I’m currently rocking a Notre Dame hoodie which reads Undefeated Season. The n and d are replaced with Notre Dame’s official lettering. This is what College football needed. A run by Notre Dame. In the upcoming years Coach Kelly will be receiving the nations top recruits. These caliber players were going off to USC, Florida, Alabama and other power houses. Well, allow Notre Dame to reintroduce themselves!!!!
