The Source Breaks Down What To Expect From The Oscars

Tonight, the 85th Academy Awards ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Seth MacFarlane will host the event for the first time after presenting the nominees along side Emma Stone for the ceremony. 

In what will potentially be a historic night, the ceremony is expected to be filled with special moments and performance throughout the event. AerosmithAdeleNorah Jones, and Barbra Streisand are all slated to take the stage during the ceremony.  Adele will perform her Academy Award nominated song for Best Original Song “Skyfall.” A huge  cast ensemble performance will be delivered by Helena Bonham CarterRussell CroweJennifer HudsonAnne HathawayAmanda SeyfriedHugh Jackman and others in Celebration of Musicals of the Last Decade.

This year’s batch of films have been deemed outstanding and the amount of nominations that each film has garnered back up the claim. “Lincoln” leads the pack with 12 nominations, with “Life of Pi” coming in right behind, boastinf 11 nominations.  “Les Miserables” and“Silver Linings Playbook” each racked up 8 nominations, while “Argo” has earned 7.  “Amour,” “Django Unchained,” “Skyfall,” and “Zero Dark Thirty” all tie with 5 nominations. 

In what will easily be one of the greatest moments in the history of the Academy Awards, a huge celebration of the James Bond franchise, in honor of its 50th Anniversary, will take place during the event.
