JT’s comeback album, The 20/20 Experience, initially expected to do moderate–and for Timberlake, 700k is moderate–has skyrocketed to nearly going platinum in its first week on the shelves. 980,622 are the initial Soundscan numbers, warranting congratulations to Timberlake, RCA & Timbaland, who did a hell of a job with producing the effort. The album will undoubtedly go platinum during its next 7 days on the shelves, so we’d call the comeback a success, to say the least. The general consensus was that the album would barely top his last first week numbers for FutureSex/LoveSounds, which was not the case. FS/LS sold 684,000 copies in its first week.
