CJ Fly, the latest Pro Era solider working to make a name for himself, dropped by Hot 97 last night to premiere his latest track, “Sadderdaze.”

Joined by TDE’s trippy lyricist, Ab-Soul, on a slow down reworking of “Hey, What’s That You Say” by Brother Brother–made famous in Jay-z‘ “Friend or Foe.” Both emcees recount about the trials and tribulations of living in modern life. There are moments when CJ contemplates his existence being surrounded by a lot of the ills of the world. Questioning whether he is in fact in hell or alive, but he concludes that it doesn’t really matter because hell would be better than hell. Ab-Soul adds a very poignant verse towards the end of the song, thematically touching on many of life’s contradictions.
