Its time.
This time of the year for ScHoolboy Q has to feel a tad familiar. A year and a half ago his labelmate, Kendrick Lamar, was beginning his debut album roll-out, with very little radio play and very few reference points, but a firm fan base and the belief of just about everyone that came into contact with his music. It resulted in a #1 album, a platinum plaque and 7 Grammy nominations. Now, with TDE getting ready to release the first of six 2014 albums, ScHoolboy Q is hoping he can not only match Kendrick’s then-surprise output, but best it.
He’s off to a good start.
After placing his debut LP, Oxymoron, on iTunes for pre-orders, ScHoolboy Q & TDE released both of the artworks that will be accompanying the LP when its officially released on February 25th. The standard edition features his daughter, Joy, wearing one of ScHoolboy’s signature bucket hats, and the deluxe edition is classic Q: white ski-mask, white bucket hat, stale face, ready for action.
