She is the first female rapper to win for Best Female Rap Performance for her hit single “Get Ur Freak On.” This category recognized the best female rappers and lately has been eliminated from the rap category altogether because of the lack of female rappers. Not many acheived this award but many have been nominated like MC Lyte, Charli Baltimore and Lil Kim. Since winning her first Grammy, she went on to win many more and still makes her name known within the industry by still producing and songwriting for different singers and rappers.
