What was it important for you to come support MusiCares?

MC Lyte: Well first off what MusiCares does is just unprecedented. I don’t know of another organization that you could call up as a musician if your house has just burned down to the ground that will help you, so that’s one. But two, it’s Carole King, I grew up listening to Carole King and later on in life I got a chance to sit in her home and write a song with her. So tonight to come and support her and celebrate with her, it’s being with family, so I’m excited for her.

Do you have a fond Grammy memory?

MC Lyte: The performances that happen at the Grammys are just phenomenal. So I’m waiting to see who they put with who because I like the mixing of the genres as well as the eras. So I’m excited.

What can you tell us about your new reality show?

MC Lyte: Not much. I don’t think I’m supposed to give up to much about that. But I’m excited. Of course we have Rage, Monie Love, MC smooth, Yo-Yo and our little protégé Lil Mama, so I’m excited.
