Happy Birthday Michael Jordan, 10 Iconic Moments in His Career Including Dunks, Buzzerbeaters & More

4. Michael Jordan’s Buzzerbeater to Win the 1998 Finals, The “Last Shot”

Jordan The Last Shot

Michael Jordan is the reason great players like John Stockton and Karl Malone never won a championship title.  Once again it was the Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz in the NBA Finals, the year was 1998.  It was game six, the Bulls had a 3-2 game lead and a win here would secure the title.  Jordan drove and hit a 20-footer over Bryon Russell, giving the Bulls the 87-86 lead over the Jazz and ultimately winning the game.  Jordan scored 45 points that night and was the Finals MVP.  The shot became known as his last because he retired six months later.  It also was so iconic the image captured was named the Greatest Sports Photo of all-time by Sports Illustrated. He did come back to join the Washington Wizards in 2001 but we all block that out.
