Although Mastermind doesn’t offer a “next level” Rick Ross when it comes to lyrics persay, it does offer a very high level Rick Ross. Almost no bars a wasted what so ever on this opus. Ross has been and continues to be a very polarizing figure but it’s long been confusing to me how some detractors will claim that Ross cant rap. Like for real fam? I mean I get it, he releases some songs that are not the most lyrical at times, so what, so do many rappers considered to be lyrical (Lil Wayne, Fab to name a few) but on the majority of Ross records he is trying to RAP, and on Mastermind he succeeds by doing that more consistently than ever. Again maybe not the best Ross bars ever but the most consistent array of really solid ones ever, while really working well on the beats.
